India vs England
July 27-31, 2007, 2nd Test
Venue: Nottingham
Toss: India elected to field
The Jellybean backfired. The Aussies techniques may not work for every team. It angered Zaheer Khan enough to produce a match winning performance. Though this jellybean incident was unfortunate, it was in the interests of Zaheer. Something like this was required to unlock the huge talent that was hidden in Zaheer Khan. As usual referee thought it was humorous whereas Shreesanth’s behaviour worth punishing!! God knows when referees start considering the fact that white players’ behavior also offends others sometimes like the continent players behavior offends.
Though Zaheer Khan was the chief architect of this win, it was a team work that brought India the win. After a long long time, the senior players (Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sourav Ganguly) didn’t evade their responsibility and played true to their experience which they should be doing more often than not. Even Laxman produced a decent knock. India managed to get big a score in the first innings even though none of the players could hit a century.
Result: India won the second test by 7 wickets.
The Scores:

India, 1st Innings: 481/10
